Today I had lunch with unlikely
people…
I met my
aunt at Taman Jaya. (The 5th aunt from father side) after I went
back school to certify the result to apply cash reward from bank and my aunt
just finish doing social work. Eating lunch with aunt has nothing special, but
other than two of us, she has 4 other social workers along with them.
They are a family, a pair of parents and two
children. Let’s start the description of them. The parents both wear a pair of
gold-sided spectacle, skinny, wearing normal T-shirts with cargo shorts. The
father holding her daughter’s hand. She is very thin and from the appearance,
she should be 15 or 16 years old. Other than pale, she looks everything fine.
She has a younger brother. He is not walking but sitting on a wheel chair. He has
a pair of small legs compare to his body size.
Aunt saw my face expression that
kind of misery told me that he actually suffered from Down’s syndrome. I have
nothing much to say, but in my brain I did think he is kind of unlucky. During
the lunch, I sat opposite to the daughter. I might be too concentrating looking
at her until my aunt voice came out again. There are 6 dishes on table, she
only eat vegetable. She actually suffered from Celiac Disease. A kind of
digestive disease where she can’t intake of any gluten in order to keep the villi
in her stomach alive. And almost every kind of Chinese food she can’t eat.
Since fried food may have gluten, milk has gluten, wheat has gluten, mee, even
some of the processed meat has gluten.
After the lunch, I went back
home. On my laptop, went through online to search some info about these
diseases. Biology had mentioned Down’s syndrome… but not the probability… Most
of the websites stated every 660 new birth babies will have one case. Then,
Celiac is also a rare child disease is also one of the common genetic disorders
(1 out of 133).
Actually, the parents are brave.
Brave as that they knew the child is a Down’s syndrome before give birth but
they wanted to keep him alive. A lot of parents may just abort because the
financial isn’t stable enough. BUT in this family, a pair of poor parents with
2 “imperfect” children still hold their hands together, get through life and
even doing social work. They are already a perfect family.
If you had ever felt unfortunate
like I did before, pay a little bit more concentrate for following lines.
Had you
ever wonder why your parents aren’t richer?
Had you ever wonder why you are not of those children from rich families?
Now let’s answer these questions sincerely…
Had you ever imagine you came from a rich family like Bill Gates?
Had you ever imagine you came from a royal family?
Now… let’s
have the other way of imagination…
Can you imagine you yourself a Down’s syndrome baby?
Can you imagine you yourself a blind, norm or a deaf?
Ca n you imagine you yourself an ALS carrier where your life had been marked a
period and you getting closer to it day by day?
Let’s see some statistic
1. From Forbes, there are 793 billionaires out from estimated 6, 760,000,000
people.
2. There are about 200 countries around the world, 42 that still have a
monarchy (Royal Family).
3. Every 660 new babies, one is Down’s syndrome.
4. Every 133 new babies, one suffering Celiac Disease.
If you had
ever think that is unfair for you that you have a worse life than the others
read this…
a. Probability to born in a billionaire family = 0.0000012
b. Probability to born in a Royal Family= less than a
c. Probability to born with Down Syndrome=0.006
d. Probability to born with Celiac Disease= 0.007
Compare both…
GOD had been very good to me and you that GOD put us on a normal side.
If next
time you think your life is SUX… think of the 0.006 or 0.007. if given a
chance, will you want to transfer to that side…
I got an answer
for myself, I believed yours will be same as my.
Thanks for
Reading. Thank You and THANK GOD!
